Progesterone Blood Work Take II

Thursday, February 9, 2012

drank water almost non stop yesterday so the blood work this morning would go smoothly.  The nurse pricked me twice with the needle and no blood would come out into the tubes.  Wendi gave me a prescription to go to CPL at lunch time. I drank only water until I went at 11:30 to CPL.  I explained to the lab technician what happened this morning.  The lab technician took one look at my arms and advised me to come to CPL when I need blood drawn.  She stated my veins looked fine and were hydrated enough.  She believes the nurse at RMA did not put the needle in at the right direction.  Needles to say the lab technician was able to do a blood draw.  I was so relieved I did not have to come back another day.

In addition I will be starting the initial medication of the IVF process.  I went to Peoples RX pharmacy to pick up what was needed until the mail order arrives next week.  The Vivelle Dot patches of estrogen a quantity of 8 was $45.  The Ganirelix pre-filled syringe was $105.  Yes that was $105 for one syringe.

I went back to the office and did some research on an alternative that was cheaper.  I could take Cetrotide and two syringes were only $54.  I contacted the nurse at RMA and she switched out the prescription.

I put the patch this evening, which was quite simple.  I change the patch every other day until the start of my menstrual cycle (CD1).  The Cetrotide shot is given only for the next three nights.
